Chives – Allium schoenoprasum - The most delicate member of the onion family, and one of the fines herbs of French cuisine. Although delicate it is a hardy perennial herb with a mild onion taste. An essential culinary herb. Far superior to their cousins, the mundane and ubiquitous restaurant impostors, green onions. The beautiful pink flower heads are a nice addition to salads and vinegars. Plant in ordinary, well-drained soil. Snip and chop hollow green spears as needed. Chives grow to a height of 10", space 15" apart. Ships in Large 4 inch pots. This is just the right size for transplanting.
