Size at time of shipping: Field Grown, 2-3 foot Huskies. These trees are budded onto healthy kousa dogwood understock, transplanted, staked, and field-grown for 2 years. They are professionally trimmed, and ready to transplant to a permanent location.
'Appalachian Spring' White Flowering Dogwood - The unique characteristic about the Appalachian Spring Dogwood, is its resistance to dogwood anthracnose. It produces large white bracts each spring. This will make a fine specimen addition to anyone’s landscape. Dr. Robert Trigiano and the University of Tennessee dogwood research team developed the cultivar from a tree that survived an anthracnose outbreak in Catoctin Mountain Park, Maryland.
Not to alarm anyone but, dogwood anthracnose is a fungal disease that first infected trees in the northeastern U.S. in the late 1970s. In some wood areas such as the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, the disease has killed nearly all of the naturally occurring dogwoods.
If you want to be the first to have this beautiful specimen tree for your home and landscape, I encourage you to order now, as we have a very limited supply available for this season.
At this date there are just not enough plants in production to meet the demand.
