NEW! Boxwood Winter Gem Buxus microphylla Winter Gem – This is considered the classic hedge plant in the four to six foot hedge range. When you think about defining or separating different spaces in the garden this is the boxwood for you. It can be used to hide a heat pump or foundation and is especially lovely against red brick. When used as a foundation plant it becomes beautiful background foliage for other colorful plant varieties. This is the boxwood that keeps its color over the winter months.
You’ll want to use color around this evergreen for contrast and separation. I suggest any red berried hollies for winter along with a few of the ornamental grasses. For the rest of the year any red flowering or red leaved plants make for a stunning appearance. Care Instructions: Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. For a tidy and neat appearance, shear annually to shape. Watering is reduced after establishment. Shipped in ONE GALLON containers, Purchase in multiples for best value. The evergreen plants will arrive healthy and ready for planting. Should they die within the first year we will replace at one half the current member price plus shipping.
Once planted with moderate care, just watering every five days or so and not fertilizing for the first year, the plants generally do well. The evergreens are a low maintenance, easy to grow; almost no care needed plant to own.
